According to a now-deleted tweet, Netflix is bringing a 3D animated Sonic the Hedgehog series to its streaming service in 2022.
The series will be developed by Wildbrain and Man of Action Entertainment, in coordination with SEGA.
Of course, SEGA’s last foray into an animated Sonic the Hedgehog series was Sonic Boom, which premiered in November 2014 and aired for two seasons. To be frank, the Sonic Boom animated series was the lone bright spot in SEGA of America’s failed attempt at establishing Sonic Boom as a new spin-off series. It will be interesting to see if any of Sonic Boom’s writing team will be brought on for the new project.
There is no further details at this time, but we’ll be sure to update you with more info as it breaks.
