Alan Wake remaster possibilities gives us early Halloween chills
Who’s up for a mystery with a side of psychological what-the-heck? With Halloween just around the corner, I’m always up for the spooks. And Remedy’s Alan Wake delivers. As one of the best mind-twisting thrillers out there, it’s a pleasure to hear that it will be getting a remaster release on October 5, 2021 for Playstation 4, PS5 and Xbox series X.
For those who need a small refresher, or who have never played, let’s shed some flashlight beams on the matter. Considered by many as a fantastic survival horror adventure, players control Alan Wake, a thriller novelist.
Alan’s wife mysteriously disappears during vacation in a small wooded town in Washington, leaving cryptic clues. Along the way, he begins to experience his own latest novel come to life, which he has no memory of writing. The story, told in an episodic format, makes Alan, and the player, question reality and everything he thought he knew. It is beautifully atmospheric and relies on that chilling feeling instead of the usual jump scares.
Trick or treat, Alan Wake?
A remaster is definitely a treat for fans. The news comes curtesy of some sharp eyes from Wario64, who spotted the remaster listing on Rakuten Taiwan. Daniel Ahmad, Senior industry Analyst at Niko Partners, followed up with a tweet all but confirming it would be announced next week. It has also shown up as available for pre-order in Thailand.
This morning we woke up to a nice surprise. It seems the leaks prompted an early announcement! It’s no trick! The remaster will include both DLCs, 4K graphics and directors commentary.
All this of Alan Wake mystery comes at an interesting time. The Playstation Showcase 2021–“a look into the future of PS5” will livestream on YouTube and Twitch next week. Beginning at 1 p.m PST/4 p.m EST on September 9, Sony has dropped hints that the showcase will include big updates from the company and discussions from developers on the latest project to hit the PS5. There is even highly hopeful speculation that the long awaited Alan Wake 2 could be announced. Finally.
We’ll keep our finger crossed that more thrills are com. Tune in to the broadcast and let us know what you want to see from Playstation Showcase. Does the idea of Part 2 give you the chills?
