Atlus’ Megami Tensei Gaiden: Shinyaku Last Bible headed to the Switch eShop

In 2007, Japanese fans of the Megami Tensei series from Atlus were treated to a typically monosyllabic new entry, Shinyaku Last Bible. While nothing necessarily groundbreaking, it was still quite impressive considering it was a mobile title running on the generally bricklike flip phones of the day; packing in as it did a proper RPG experience and some pleasant-enough visuals. Until now, Anglophonic gamers hadn’t had the chance to play MTG: SLB (that really is less of a mouthful, isn’t it) without severe tinkering and importing a Japanese handset. But courtesy of studio G-Mode, it’ll now be available on the far-more accessible Japanese eShop – though you still won’t be able to play it in English. Hey, can’t have it all, folks. Localisations cost dough.

I’m sure most of the dialogue boils down to speeches about darkness and/or friendship, anyway.

As NintendoLife reports, “G-Mode has announced it will release the Atlus-made RPG Megami Tensei Gaiden: Shinyaku Last Bible as a ‘G-MODE Archives+’ title for Switch eShop,” joining a pantheon of similar titles to receive this treatment. Think Arcade Archives, except a bit further to the East.

The plot to Shinyaku Last Bible (such as it is)

Though there’s no word on a release date and price just yet, have a gander at this official description of the release:

“The story is set on the tragic planet Galleria, where the Demon Lord is resurrected and launches an invasion every 100 years. With the Demon Lord’s resurrection approaching, the protagonist sets off on a journey to save the world as a candidate to become the next “Gaia Master” – the savior who will defeat the Demon Lord.”

Huh. I’m sure all of that will mean something to someone. As for me, every time I see the word ‘Gaia’, my Sonic Unleashed senses start going haywire. Makes reading a lot of classical literature a nightmare, y’know.

Are you a Megami Tensei fan? Will you be picking up this version of the 2007 title? Let us know!
