Beyond Good and Evil 2 has a new lead writer
Sarah Arellano is the new head writer for the game, previously working on games for Volition Games and Activision Blizzard.
The wait for Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been beyond excruciating. First officially announced back in 2008, we’ve only seen scattered concept art and trailers in the 14 years since. And while what we’ve seen has been good, we still have no indication on when the game will come out or what the gameplay will look like.
We do know, at least, that Ubisoft Montpelier is bringing in talented individuals to work on the game. Sarah Arellano, a writer and narrative designer who’s worked for companies like Activision Blizzard, Deep Silver Volition, and Super Evil Megacorp, has joined the Beyond Good and Evil 2 team as a lead writer.
Arellano announced the new position on her Twitter page, with a video showing her updating her bio to reveal the new gig. See that below:
What a new writer means for Beyond Good and Evil 2
This isn’t Arellano’s first time leading a video game writing team. Previously, she worked as the Narrative Designer for mobile game developer Super Evil Megacorp and on the upcoming Saint’s Row remake at Deep Silver Volition. Most recently, she was the Narrative Designer for World of Warcraft at Activision Blizzard.
With Arellano’s resume, it’s no doubt that she’ll bring plenty of talent to Beyond Good and Evil 2. With Rayman Origins lead writer Gabrielle Shrager heading narrative direction, it looks like the game’s story is in good hands.
Yet this news might be overshadowed by the underlying question: when will the game actually come out? Ubisoft has effectively been silent on any kind of release window ever since we finally got our first cinematic trailer for the game in 2017. And considering the lack of gameplay footage we have, it’s doubtful it’ll launch any time soon.
When do you think Beyond Good and Evil 2 will finally release? Let us know!
