I may have found the fluffiest, cutest, and silliest troublemakers ever. No, I’m not talking about Ewoks (post “May the 4th be with you” pun). Let me introduce Dandy and Randy, who in the words of developers Asteristic Game Studio, are “two of the worst archaeologists to ever grace the Earth.” This bunny and duck duo are the main characters of the newest game from publisher Ratalaika Games S.L: Dandy & Randy DX.
Ratalaika has had a slew of fantastic titles lately, including 6 Souls, which we reviewed in November. Their games have a retro feel that is old and new at the same time. And it looks like Dandy & Randy DX follow that same pattern.
The top-down, retro style game is reminiscent of original The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. Dandy (the pink duck) and Randy (blue bunny) were rich, but are not now, and must recover their riches by treasure hunting! The bank demands it. Of course, the road to wealth must involve puzzles and hidden gems. Together, they travel through a number of locales, brightly colored and littered with oddball enemies.
Imagine if Ash had a wicked trippy dream? You have a little idea of what Dandy and Randy have to deal with. It looks to be a fun, family-friendly game. So, grab a friend or play alone. Dandy & Randy DX has single and local multiplayer co-op. From the launch trailer, gameplay allows for both to be on screen at the same time.
The game released on April 29, on every major platform. Right now, you can grab whichever version you want for $5.99 USD.
