Dawn of the Monsters is a new co-op brawler that lets you play as a kaiju

Get ready to battle an onslaught of kaiju in early 2022.

Earlier today, the official announcement trailer for Dawn of the Monsters released on YouTube.

Dawn of the Monsters lets you take control of a deadly kaiju as you take down other giant monsters. The game features both single-player and two-player co-op, so you can enjoy explosive monster action with a friend. In addition, the game offers a fully destructible environment within the fictional city of New Toronto. Buildings will crumble to the ground as you and a friend battle it out against fierce monsters.

Players can choose between four kaiju to play as: Megadon, Ganira, Aegis Prime and Tempest Galahad. Each playable character has a unique move set, complete with Brutal Rage abilities, Cataclysm Attacks and devastating finishing moves.

The game will feature 35 missions where players will face off against a wide array of enemies. In addition to brutal boss fights, the game includes over 12 regular, but still imposing, enemy types. Aside from combat, players can enjoy a number of customization options to make their kaiju stand out in battle.

Besides intense monster action, the game also offers stunning visuals. The unique art style is heavily inspired by that of comic books, and it helps build the otherworldly aesthetic of the game. The developers achieved this iconic look due to the help of two legends within the Godzilla franchise. Godzilla character creator Shiji Nishikawa and comic book artist Matt Frank created all of the kaiju designs for the game.

Dawn of the Monsters is being developed by 13AM Games and published by WayForward. It releases early next year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
