ESCHATOS is returning for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Japan soon
A worldwide release is planned for the future.
The shoot ’em up title ESCHATOS will return to Japan soon for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. In addition, the game comes bundled with two classic Bandai WonderSwan games: Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins.
What is ESCHATOS?
Originally released in 2011 for the Xbox 360, ESCHATOS is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up. The game tasks the player with defeating a mysterious alien army known as Purple Erosion. With the Moon already conquered by the imposing aliens, it’s up to the player to stop their invasion on Earth and send them back through space.
The game offers three fun modes to choose from with varying difficulty settings: Original, Advanced and Time Attack. Each mode additionally offers its own unique scoring system. In Original mode, the goal is to achieve a high score by wiping out waves of enemies as fast as possible. Advanced mode offers more challenging gameplay with a higher risk, but also a higher reward. And in Time Attack mode, the player’s score depends on outrunning the time limit.
Players who hope to survive the intense fast-paced gameplay need to utilize all three weapons. Each weapon has its own unique strength. However, they also have notable drawbacks. The Front Shot is great for powerful long-range attacks, but it comes with the disadvantage of a limited firing angle. On the other hand, the Wide Shot can hit multiple enemies at once but only at short range. When the going really gets tough, players may want to bust out the Shield. When enemies get super close, it can inflict heavy damage by deflecting bullets.
ESCHATOS also offers a dynamic camera system to help build on the fast-paced gameplay. Across the game’s five stages, players will encounter overwhelming hordes of UFOs. Additionally, players must defeat massive bosses to save the planet. Fortunately, you can enjoy all the action while rocking out to the game’s retro-synth soundtrack.
ESCHATOS launches in Japan for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18. It will release for PlayStation 4 on a later date. Additionally, both ports will launch worldwide in the near future as well.
