Evercade reveals hardware support plans; game prices increase in 2022

Blaze Entertainment faced a tough release year for the Evercade VS amongst worldwide shipping delays and supply shortages. Yet despite a rough launch year, Blaze recently announced their plans for 2022 on hardware support features and price changes fans should know.

Starting with the Evercade VS, its built-in WiFi support will let Blaze push new updates and improvements frequently over the next year. They will spend the first six months of 2022 researching and testing. Afterward, they’ll focus on creating new features that boost the Evercade VS experience. Some of their milestones are also on supporting the Evercade Handheld. After the release of firmware 2.0, there will be seamless updates between Evercade VS and Handheld. The updates will capitalize on creating a better experience with convenient modern features.

Price changes

Unfortunately, the Evercade Handheld is in a massive production pool, which hikes up prices for electronic devices. The high demand for its components has led to a “suggested retail price” increase by Blaze Entertainment in the following countries with Starter and Premium editions respectively: UK (£79.99/£99.99), EU (€89.99/€109.99), and US ($89.99/$109.99). Starting January 1st, 2022, all retailers with the console in stock can follow the suggestion or set their prices since the SRP is not mandatory.

Evercade VS Cartridge Pack & Console

Newly ordered cartridges in 2022 will have a suggestive retail increase of £17.99 (UK) and €19.99 (EU). US costs will remain at $19.99 because of the various state tax rates across the country. And while expenses are higher, Blaze Entertainment’s commitment to communicating these changes and finding ways of counteracting them will – in my opinion – win fans’ hard-earned cash.

“We have a large catalogue of retro titles now available for people to enjoy and we aim to continue growing this to over 100 cartridges in the next few years. This, coupled with the Handheld and VS gives us the chance to bring you games from well-known publishers, Indie developers and help you explore the history of gaming with hidden gems.”
