Fans speculate Dragon Quest III HD 2D Remake appears in 2022

With all the controversy surrounding Square Enix right now, it’s easy to forget that the Dragon Quest franchise is set to have a big year in 2022. There were multiple games in the franchise confirmed last year to be coming down the line. It seems now that fans think one of them is coming in 2022.

In a New Years’ message to fans, series producer Yuji Horii hinted that Dragon Quest III HD 2D Remake is coming in 2022! The note talks about the multiple releases announced last year and re-confirms the game is in development. Some folks on the internet took this as a confirmation that he was saying it was coming out in 2022. But alas, that’s not the case. You can see the message translated in full below.

All this said, come on now; The game is probably coming in 2022. The first trailer looked close to finished. I’d be stunned if we don’t see it come out by the end of the year. If you’re unaware of the remake, the idea is that Square is taking Dragon Quest III and remaking it with the same art style as Octopath Traveler. The engine and art style look like they will fit the aesthetics of the classic perfectly for a new generation.

Dragon Quest III HD 2D Remake does not have an official release date yet, but don’t be surprised if it comes by the end of 2022. When do you think it will come out? Are you excited to see it in a new light? Let us know below!
