After much anticipation building up to it, the Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster finally releases. The sixth installment of the pixel remaster series, Final Fantasy fans can pick it up for PC and mobile devices starting Feb. 23, 2022.
The Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster
Square released Final Fantasy VI originally in 1994. The game follows The War of the Magi that left humanity in shambles. A thousand years later, humans rely on machines and technology, but soon discover a young girl named Terra. Enslaved to be used as a weapon due to her mysterious powers, Terra meets with Locke, and together they escape from the Empire.
Many of the game’s original features remain intact, including its 14 playable characters and party member customization. However, Square Enix has made significant improvements to the remaster as well.
Game improvements:
- Universally updated 2D pixel graphics, including the iconic FINAL FANTASY pixel character designs created by Kazuko Shibuya, the original artist and current collaborator.
- A beautifully rearranged soundtrack in a faithful FINAL FANTASY style, overseen by the original composer Nobuo Uematsu.
- Improved gameplay, including modernized UI, auto-battle options and more!
- Supplemental extras like the bestiary, illustration gallery and music player.
Additionally, such tracks have been updated and are included in a special purchase bundle. This includes time-lapse special tracks, where they also transition from the iconic original versions to the new arrangements.
Updated music:
- The Decisive Battle (Timelapse Remix)
- Terra’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
- Searching for Friends (Timelapse Remix)
- Locke’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)
- Aria di Mezzo Carattere (Instrumental)
