First Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness trailer released
Vespa gives us our first look at their upcoming game.
Vespa released the first trailer for their upcoming mobile title Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness on Aug. 17.
Although the trailer is almost entirely in Japanese, The teaser for Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness reveals a lot of information of what fans can expect from the franchise’s return. The video opens up with a girl reading from a book while soft piano music plays in the background. The art-style of the introduction is 16-bit to replicate the graphics of the original Shining Force game on the Genesis/Mega Drive.
As the logos for SEGA, Vespa and HIVE appear on screen, an epic orchestral score starts. This leads us into a sequence with enriched anime-style graphics that introduces some important characters. We are first given a glimpse at some horrifying monsters, sure to be bosses in the game. Standing before them is the ensemble of the game’s heroes.
Each of the main characters is given their own proper introduction. The four featured characters all return from previous entries of Shining Force. Two of the central characters include Max and Mae. Bowie and Sarah are also featured. They originated from Shining Force II: The Ancient Seal.
Arguably the most exciting part of the trailer is the emphasis on gameplay. Like previous entries, Heroes of Light and Darkness features a grid system to traverse the map. In addition, the combat remains turn-based. Counter attacks that make use of high-detailed closeups are also showcased.
Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness will release worldwide in 2022. The game will be free-to-play on Android and iOS platforms.
