Happy 25th anniversary to the European Mega Drive

It’s really crazy to think that our little Mega Drive is 25 years old today. He’s practically a decade away from being a certified old man!

But ya know, even though he’s getting up there in age, our Mega Drives still work just as good today as the day we first bought them 25 years ago.

It will forever live on as one of our favorite video game systems ever, not just for being an amazing little machine, but also what it represented. It was truly the David against Nintendo’s Goliath (the NES, if you didn’t already know), and I think fighting for the underdog was a big reason why many of us gravitated to the Mega Drive/Genesis on school playgrounds so long ago.

As silly as it might sound, I know I wouldn’t be the guy I am today if the Mega Drive didn’t come into my life. Here’s to the Mega Drive, and all those amazing SEGA employees that made it happen.

And oh yeah, save us Tom Kalinske, you’re SEGA’s only hope.
