Harry Osborn will be Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
It looks like we finally know who will bond with the Venom symbiote
Apparently, the debut of the main theme for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 isn’t the only big news piece to come from the Game Awards 10-Year Concert. During the new song’s performance, the supporting video seemingly confirms Venom’s identity in the game.
Towards the end of the video, we can clearly see Norman Osborn walking up the cryptic stasis module containing Harry from the first game. As he gets closer to the tank, the green turns to black, as the symbiote envelops its surroundings. Following that image, the camera cuts to the Venom reveal from the very first teaser trailer. You can also watch the video for yourself below.
In 2018’s Spider-Man, Peter Parker believed his best friend Harry was on a trip to Europe. As a result, he helped Harry out by completing side-quests at various Oscorp research centers around the city. However, the game’s post-credits scene reveals that rather than perusing around Europe, the young Osborn was engulfed in a tank within his father’s secret lab.
The black gooey substance around Harry in the tank already left fans speculating whether he would become Venom in Insomniac’s universe. However, because photojournalist Eddie Brock traditionally dons the role of Venom, this fan theory remained uncertain. That said, Insomniac likes to bring familiar characters into its universe in new ways, so the change may make for interesting update to the lore.
From previous trailers, we also already know that Spidey himself will wear the symbiote, as is the case in all other iterations of the web-slinger. However, we don’t yet know details on how or when he will obtain the dark upgrade. If Harry is already wearing the symbiote at the start of the game, how will Peter get it?
