Help Kickstart a new Mega Drive art book

I love documentary and art books, and this new 25th anniversary Mega Drive art book by Read-Only Memory promises to be “the definitive volume” on SEGA’s 16-bit beast. Simply titled SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works, the 300-page, hardback book is officially licensed by SEGA and will include more than 20 exclusive interview with original SEGA team members, like Yuji Naka and Yu Suzuki, as well as a foreword by Dave Perry.

According to the book’s Kickstarter page, SEGA has given them “unprecedented access to its archives,” where they were able to obtain alternative controller designs as well as getting personal archives from original Japanese developers.

Pledging £25 (about $40) earns you access to an early bird version as the book, as well as getting your name added in a benefactor list inside the book. Upping your pledge to £250 (about $400) will net you a limited edition cover version of the book and one of 100 prints of Sonic and Dr. Robotnik illustrated by Naoto Oshima.

Currently, the Kickstarter campaign has raised £26,329 of its £30,00 goal with more than 500 backers and 27 days to go. Yeah, it’s gonna get funded.

[Thanks for the tip, Blake!]
