Here’s our top PSN SEGA DLC and digital games list
An end of an era is coming for PlayStation and SEGA fans. Recent news broke earlier this week that there’s rumors the digital stores for the PS3, PSP and PS Vita will be closing in the next few months. Even though Sony still has yet, as of the writing of this, to make an official announcement, the clock is ticking.
Now is the time to grab those digital games and DLC you’ve been putting off, or perhaps find some new ones you never knew existed and possibly save a little cash from trying to get the physical versions. Don’t be afraid to grab some themes for your PS3 or Vita. There’s quite a few good ones from various SEGA titles out there.
We’ve compiled a list of SEGA related games and DLC that you might find enticing and recommend getting while you can. Keep in mind that once the stores close, the DLCs will be gone for ever, and it’ll be too late to go back and grab them. While finding some of the games on Physical UMD, cartridge or CD format is possible, some aren’t easy to get a hold of.
Sometimes, that’s where digital games come in handy. You can search for these online as well. Here’s the direct link to the old PS3/PSP/Vita store for the US, if you can’t be bothered to turn on the original hardware.

Yakuza: Dead Souls (PS3) – Patriot Pack (FREE)
Extra costumes, cutscenes and Karaoke songs. This pack includes the infamous costume for Kiryu that dresses him in ‘MURICAN patriotic clothing!
Yakuza: Dead Souls (PS3) – The Densetsu Pack (FREE)
Play as the Hostess girls and run around blasting zombies! Includes 14 weapons and extra costumes.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3) – Marie, Margaret and Adachi Characters ($5 each)
These three characters were extra and not included with the game. They don’t add much to the story, but great for fans of the characters and in online or 2-player games.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3) – Extra Colors ($2-$6)
Extra colors are available for all characters. We recommend grabbing the bundle for the better pricing. They are also available in smaller packs for less, if you want to get certain ones.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3) – Extra BGM (FREE-$3)
Snag some extra music from classic Persona games, if you’d like, while smacking around your opponent!
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3) – Navigation DLC ($3)
Choose your favorite character and have them commentate your matches!
Anarchy Reigns – Bayonetta Character ($1)
This is the only way to get the titular Bayonetta to be playable in Anarchy Reigns, a favorite game among the MV Staff.
Anarchy Reigns – Multiplayer Modes ($2)
Grab this to get two exclusive online play modes.
Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing – Ryo with Forklift ($5)
It’s Ryo from Shenmue in his famed forklift! If you happen to have a copy of the vanilla version of Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing, this is a must.
SEGA Games
Yakuza: Dead Souls (PS3) ($20)
This is one of those side games that’s not canon to the Yakuza series and an exclusive to the PS3. It’s set just a little after one year after Yakuza 4. A fun third-person shooter where you take down zombies that have infested Kamurocho! Some say the camera and controls in this game are a little funky, but if you’re looking for something different in the Yakuza universe, check this one out!
Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax (PS3) ($15-$20)
Non-canonical to the Persona series, the characters from Persona 3 & 4 battle it out! These games were also available on the Xbox 360 and the original Persona 4 Arena is backwards compatible on the Xbox Series S/X. However, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is said to not run on the Series S/X at all. Picking up Ultramax is highly recommended, as it’s a more complete version of the game. This one was also created by ArcSystem Works, the developer behind the Guilty Gear Series.
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP, Vita) ($20)
If you’re a fan of the Persona series, this is one you might not want to pass up. This was exclusive to the PSP physically, but it playable on the Vita. The physical version is a bit pricey, but digitally, it’s a fraction of the cost.
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PSOne Classic) ($10)
The sequal to Persona 2: Innocent Sin. This one reuses a lot of stuff from Innocent Sin, but improves on a few things. This was originally on the PSOne, but it’s even more expensive than Innocent Sin! Getting it digitally is extremely cheap in comparison.
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars (PSP, Vita) ($6)
Exclusive to the PSP physically as well, this game includes Crazy Taxi 1 & 2 together. These ports sported multiplayer options that weren’t available on the older ports. Keep in mind that these later releases of Crazy Taxi after the Dreamcast release replaced the licensed tunes from The Offspring, Methods of Mayham and Bad Religion that most people were accustomed to. If you manage to get the physical version, you could also record 80 seconds of your gameplay and upload to your PC to share with others. You are also able to play music loaded on your memory card in place of the in-game tracks, which was also a cool feature that was kept for the XBLA port of Crazy Taxi.
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (PSP, Vita) ($15)
Lunar: The Silver Star was originally released on the SEGA CD. This is a sort of remaster the updated port on the PSOne game with changed animated cutscenes, additional content, and more voice overs. Some of the dialog was changed from the original and PSOne port. The physical version of this game is also pricey, but no where near Persona levels. It was also exclusive to the PSP.
Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time (PSP, Vita) ($20)
Growlanser is a tactical RPG series owned by SEGA/ATLUS and spiritual successor to the Langrisser series that was on the SEGA Genesis. This series also pretty much stuck around in Japan on the Saturn and Dreamcast. Working Designs published Growlanser I & II games on the PS2. This fourth title in the series was released in the West physically on the PSP and isn’t too pricey yet to get ahold of. The digital version will save you time tracking it down and a little cash. Characters designs were drawn by the famed manga artist Satoshi Urushihara.
Growlanser: Heritage of War (PS3) ($10)
Known as Growlanser V in Japan, this was physically released on the PS2. This game complete goes for around $50. Again, for the fraction of that price, you can grab this digitally still on the PSN store and play it on your PS3.
Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP, Vita) ($10)
Exclusive to the PSP and playable on the Vita. This is a pretty uncommon game to find physically, but won’t break your bank. The game takes place two years after the original.
Power Stone Collection (PSP, Vita) ($10)
We’re sort of cheating on this one. This collection consists of the two Power Stone games that were originally released on the Dreamcast by CAPCOM. This is the only other way to get these games and is exclusive to the PSP/Vita. The collection also includes the ability for Ad-Hoc connection to play with your friends, who also have a copy of the game!
Anarchy Reigns (PS3) ($20)
This is an odd one. It’s available physically, but a bit uncommon. However, hunting it down might be totally worth it, as it’s a hell of a lot cheaper that way! Not sure why this one is more than twice the physical price on the PSN Store. Anyway, this is a favorite game to play online with the MV Staff. Comes highly recommended for the crazy gameplay. This is also a sequel to Madworld on the Nintendo Wii.
Binary Domain (PS3) ($20)
A third-person shooter created by Yakuza series creator, Toshihiro Nagoshi and his team. This game featured a unique mechanic where you could give orders to your team by screaming into your headset. Quite honestly, that mechanic is a bit broken, but the story and gameplay is pretty good. This is also available on the XBOX 360 and Steam. The Steam version also has characters form the Yakuza series as DLC, so you can play as Kiryu once more picking up guns and shoot Terminator-like robots!
Dengeki Bunco: Fighting Climax (PS3, Vita) ($20)
This is an interesting 2D fighting game. Developed by French Bread, who’s more known for the Melty Blood games and Under Night in Birth. Characters from the Dengeki Bunco universe come to fight in SEGA themed backgrounds from the likes of Sonic and Nights into Dreams. Characters like Sylvaria Bless from Valkyria Chronicles and Akira Yuki are unlockable to play with as far as SEGA characters go. The personification of Dreamcast also makes a cameo in the story. An updated version, titled Dengeki Bunco: Fighting Climax Ignition sadly never made it west and was available on the PS3 and Vita in Japan only. That version might be worth importing more, as it included a couple of extra characters and improved balancing.
Superdimension Neptune vs SEGA Hard Girls (Vita) ($20)
Vita cartridges are steadily rising in prices and not easy to find, so getting this one digitally might be a good idea. An RPG game that pits the girls from the Superdimension Neptune series with the SEGA Hard Girls, such as Dreamcast Saturn, Game Gear and Mega Drive. A fun play and parody of the old Console Wars.
Crush (PSP, Vita) ($6)
A favorite of our boss’s here at MV. A 2D and 3D puzzle game where you play as Danny, trying to overcome his nightmares. This is a fairly cheap game to get physically as well, if you find it.
Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing/Transformed (PS3, Vita) ($20)
Another favorite among the MV Staff. Transformed is by far the better version. The original is not available digitally, so you might as well go for it. Race SEGA characters in karts! This was also available on the XBOX 360, if you prefer it on there and is backwards compatible on the Series S/X.
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Complete Edition (PS3) ($30)
The latest title in the Virtua Fighter series. This is the complete bundle that includes all the DLC. You can get pieces separately, if you want. This title is also available on the XBOX 360 and backwards compatible on the Series S/X, if you choose.
SEGA Model 2 Games (PS3) ($5-$10)
We’re throwing these games together as they’re all ports of the SEGA Model 2 arcade games with enhanced graphics and some extras, but they’re sold separately. Snag Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Sonic the Fighters and Daytona USA! Daytona is the most expensive one at $10. Not sure why that is. Still an awesome grab! All games include online play as well with Daytona supporting up to 8 players! These games are not available in physical form, sadly. So you might want to get these if you don’t have access to an XBOX console.
Shinobi (PS2 Classic for the PS3) ($10)
An obscure game, this one. Originally planned for the Dreamcast, it was pushed over to the PS2 after the Dreamcast was discontinued. If you can’t find the physical version, grab this digital one.
Stand Alone Genesis Games (PS3) ($4-$5)
Several Genesis games were released separately outside of compilations, such as Sonic 1 & 2, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe, Gunstar Hero, ToeJam & Earl and Shinobi. Search for them on the store, if interested.
SEGA Vintage Collection (PS3) ($10 each)
Two vintage collection packs were released on the PS3. Alex Kidd and Co., which consisted of Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Super Hang-On, and Revenge of Shinobi and the Monster World Collection, which has Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Wonder Boy in Monster World and Wonder Boy IV. These are not available at all physically.
House of the Dead Bundle Pack (PS3) ($30)
House of the Dead III, 4 and Overkill all for one price! These games work amazingly well with the eye toy and move controllers for that arcade experience. HotD 4 never got a release any where else, so definitely grab that one! These games are also available separately, but why not save a little money?
Space Channel 5 Part 2 (PS3) ($5)
A remaster of the PS2 port from the Dreamcast. This has enhanced visuals and the best looking version.
SEGA Genesis Collection (PSP, Vita) ($10)
A collection of classic Genesis titles. This had a different list of games from the PS2 release, so it’s worth mentioning. This is also the only version available digitally on the store. Good way to have some Genesis games on the go and a better way to get them without getting the games separately. However, an updated version with the same list of games and more was also released for the PS3 and XBOX 360 later under the title Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection.
Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, & Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight (Vita) ($25-$30)
The Persona 3 and Persona 5 rhythm games never got a physical release in the West. If you’re interested in getting them on the go, best snag those two at least. Persona 4 Dancing All Night is a little tough to find physically and still holds near its MSRP price.
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F/F 2nd (PS3, Vita) ($15-$20)
Diva F was digitally only on Vita in the west. It did receive a physical PS3 version though. If you’re into rhythm games, give this one a shot on the go for your Vita. You can also snag the sequel and all the lovely costume and extra music DLC while you’re at it.
Persona 4/Persona 4 Golden (PS2 Classic for PS3, Vita) ($10-$20)
Golden is the enhanced version of the PS2 Classic vanilla game. Some voice actors were changed, Marie was added into the story, and other changes were done. Golden is for sure the more popular choice and fits nicely if you want to build a collection of Persona games on the go with the other games available digitally. The physical copy of Persona 4 Golden still demands near it’s retail price.
Hell Yeah! (PS3) ($15)
Probably one of the stranger games on this list, this is a digital only game on PSN for the PS3. Play as a very angry rabbit and blow things up with all kinds of weapons! You can also grab this on XBOX 360, but I couldn’t find if it was compatible with the Series S/X.
Sonic Rival 1 & 2 (PSP, Vita) ($7 each)
Race on foot as your favorite character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. A mediocre racer that was exclusively on the PSP and playable on the Vita. Finding physical copies of these games are still pretty cheap, but to play on your Vita, digitally is the way to go.
