In (Intellivision) news that will no doubt shock the world —
… no, not like that.
Wait, maybe a bit like that, actually, depending on who you listen to.
Anyway, Intellivision Chief Executive Officer and President Tommy Tallarico (who you might also know for his work on Video Games Live, Reviews on the Run, Electric Playground, and just doing a whole lot of cool stuff with the SEGA Genesis sound chip) took to Twitter to inform everyone of what they could expect on the anticipated launch date for the Intellivision Amico, previously delayed from Oct. 10, 2020 to April 15, 2021.
That is to say, nothing. At least as of this moment, there is nothing to expect from them on that day, because the release has been postponed. They go into an almost grueling amount of detail as to the who, what, where, when, why, and how of it all in this new video (see above).
We get it, guys, there’s a lot of moving pieces. And I forget whether you mentioned there’s a global pandemic still going on, but yeah, we figure that would be a part of the whole deal.
The new release date is now October 10th, 2021 — one year from the original release date of October 10th last year, or “10/10/2020,” in case you weren’t sure what they were going for there.
But if that’s too long for you to wait, or you just want “games with blood and violence, sexual content, and kids in sexually-compromising positions and rape,” then Tallarico is happy to inform you that the Nintendo Switch is available now.
However, if you’re more interested in what Amico is bringing to the table, they’ve uploaded video of an Amico exclusive title, Space Strikers:
