We just recently learned that Cinemaware would be releasing It Came from the Desert on the SEGA Genesis after 24 years.
More recently, Cinemaware announced the game would be available to pre-order in January and would include numerous upgrades to the original, unreleased game, while the physical edition will come with a Genesis-style, clam-shell case, a printed manual and poster.
What we didn’t know up until this point was how much the game would actually cost, but Cinemaware has finally announced its price, and it will be $55, not including shipping.
While that price may seem high, we should keep in mind Watermelon Games, which Cinemaware has teamed up with to manufacture the game, has priced Pier Solar HD’s Dreamcast version at $50. Manufacturing a Genesis cart is more expensive than putting the game on disc, which is likely where the extra $5 in cost comes in.
We’re hoping to get word back from Cinemaware to learn more about It Came from the Desert and will publish an interview with the development team when we do.
