Judgment has seen commendable success since it was originally released in 2018. The game is a spinoff from the Yakuza series and focuses on Takayuki Yagami, a disgraced attorney now working as a private eye. Despite taking focus away from Kiryu, Judgment still takes place in the bustling city of Kamurocho and captures that charm fans come to expect. We thought it was a solid entry from Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, and if you were on the fence purchasing the game, our review might help out.
Last month, we reported on SEGA’s aspirations for Judgment and the Yakuza series. For future entries, SEGA’s goal is to sell 2-3 million units of Yakuza and Judgment games. That’s quite an ambitious goal, don’t you think? Today, their Japanese Twitter announced a huge milestone.
According to the translated tweet, Judgment (or Judge Eyes in Japan) sold over 1 million copies worldwide. That’s honestly quite impressive for a spinoff title of a franchise that shot up in popularity in the last 4 years. Clearly SEGA saw the writing on the wall when they announced that ambitious goal.
The release of a remastered version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X definitely helped pad those numbers. A sequel to Judgment, Lost Judgment, is coming out this fall; If you were interested in jumping on that hype train, now is a good a time as ever to check out the remaster.
Lost Judgment is set to release worldwide simultaneously on September 24th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox.
