Lollipop Chainsaw producer answers questions on the remake
Yasuda wants to keep the game as close to the original as possible.
Yesterday, Lollipop Chainsaw producer Yoshimi Yasuda took to Twitter to answer some fans’ most burning questions about the remake.
One of the first points Yasuda addresses involve how the remake will compare to the original title. The producer points out that while he originally preferred the idea of simply releasing a remaster, the inability to use most of Lollipop Chainsaw’s soundtrack led to a different direction. Regardless, Yasuda affirms his intention to keep the remake as close to the original as possible.
Continuing off his previous point, Yasuda adds that in line with his and the rest of Drgami Games‘ goals, the game’s story will remain untouched. In his statement, he further cements the game’s goal to recreate what made the original game special, so that fans can get the same enjoyment on modern hardware.
Additionally, this means that the design of Juliet and overall aesthetics of the game will also remain similar. Yasuda took note of fan concern in this regard, due to the connotation implied when he previously announced the game would have a “more realistic look.” Yasuda cements that this does not refer to any stylistic changes. Rather, the increased realism relates to how the developers will take advantage of advanced rendering technology to improve the visuals.
We do not wish to change Juliet’s design, and the assumption that we want to is baseless. We were the ones who created Juliet’s model data after great trial and error ten years ago, and feel attached to her more than anyone else.

The final point Yasuda discusses is that of censorship. While nobody from Dragami Games discussed the issue with the platform holders to this point, Yasuda states his intention to minimize censorship to keep Lollipop Chainsaw Remake as close to the original as possible.
About Lollipop Chainsaw and the upcoming remake
The original Lollipop Chainsaw first debuted in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The stylish hack-and-slash follows high school cheerleader Juliet Starling as she fights her way through a zombie outbreak. The game resulted as a collaboration effort between producer Yasuda, in addition to game designer Suda51 and film director James Gunn.
Although the game received mediocre reviews from critics, its unique charm and aesthetic earned a cult-following fanbase. Now, Lollipop Chainsaw returns with a remake in 2023. However, neither the exact release date or platforms it will be on have been confirmed.
What we do know is the game is in good hands. Although neither Suda51 nor James Gunn are returning, the original producer Yoshimi Yasuda along with other members of the original development team are heading the project. Overall, the Lollipop Chainsaw Remake aims to recreate the original with more realistic graphics due to the power of modern hardware.
Lollipop Chainsaw will hop, skip and slash its way onto modern consoles next year. Are you excited to relive Juliet’s zombie-slaying adventure? As always, share your thoughts with us in the comments!
