Metal Slug Tactics is delayed to 2023
In a brief Tweet on Thursday, publisher DotEmu informed the public that Metal Slug Tactics needs more time.
2023 is unexpectedly shaping up to be a great year for games. I say unexpectedly because 2022 has seen an unprecedented number of video game delays. For multiple reasons, many games set to come out this year have been pushed back. Now, it seems that Metal Slug Tactics is the latest victim of this trend.
Announced back in 2021, the game is under development at Leikir Studio with Dotemu set to publish. Dotemu revealed the delay in a brief Tweet, saying that the team is “tinkering away to make [Metal Slug Tactics] as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead.”

What’s up with the Metal Slug Tactics delay?
Unfortunately, we don’t have a reason behind the delay. Dotemu’s Tweet is very vague, simply saying that the game “needs more time in the shop.” It could be that Dotemu and Leikir Studio need more time to polish the game, or to include additional content. Whatever the reason, it seems we have at least another couple of months to wait for this latest Metal Slug title.
This isn’t the first upcoming tactical military game to be delayed this year. Nintendo’s Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was indefinitely delayed in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While it’s possible that this was also the reason behind the Metal Slug Tactics delay, this is unconfirmed. Given how long the invasion has been going on, it isn’t likely.
