Metroid Dread developers are working on a new third-person action-RPG
After the critically acclaimed Metroid Dread, developer MercurySteam is now working on a new third-person action-RPG “set in a dark fantasy world.”
Their new IP is codenamed Project Iron as of writing. But few details were announced except for a planned multi-platform global release. However, we know that it will be co-owned by MercurySteam and Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games. They’ll be helping with the publishing and development effort. With an investment of $30m, Project Iron is shaping up to have a decent budget for a new AAA title.
“With MercurySteam’s creative vision and talent and 505 Games extensive experience, gamers can expect a high-quality, captivating and engaging video game.”
co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group, Raffi and Rami Galante
MercurySteam is a Madrid-based studio founded in 2002 by veterans from Rebel Act Studios. For those who didn’t know, MercurySteam developed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow back in 2010, later working on two more games from the franchise with Konami. Soon they partnered with Nintendo on Metroid: Samus Returns for 3DS in 2017, which led to Metroid Dread.
Any fans of their past and current titles are bound to be excited for what they’ll do next! What about you: fan or a soon-to-be fan once more info comes out? Let us know!
