Fatality. The end is nigh, Mortal Kombat 11 fans. After a plethora of DLC content that included several add-on characters and the story expansion Aftermath, NetherRealm Studios has announce it will discontinue further support for MK11.
In the two years since its launch, Mortal Kombat 11 has had its up and downs. Day one launch saw technical issues that were never really solved. Lack of requested features, including Wi-Fi filters; game stabilization problems, and unfriendly communities have followed the game around like Johnny Cage’s bad puns. Regardless of this, the game grew to be one of the most popular recent entries is the franchise with a loyal competitive fan base.
Unfortunately, if gamers are expecting additional patches to drop addressing Quality of Life and other problems, it’s best not to hold your breath. It appears long-term support is no longer on the table. Instead, NetherRealm is focusing on new projects. What those are remains to be seen, whether it is another entry in the MK saga (pending…sigh… another timeline reset?) or something entirely new to tickle our bloody fancy.
For the time being, gamers can continue to enjoy the gory goodness of MK11’s Frost vs Spawn matches, though glitches may or may not be present.
What do you think of NRS shifting focus? Is Mortal Kombat 11 a sinking ship in Outworld?
