Mortal Kombat: Onslaught cinematic leaks ahead of 2023 launch

A couple of weeks back, Netherrealm Studios dropped some Mortal Kombat news in the form of a mobile game. Titled Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, the studio promised to bring the series to new heights. There was some promise of a more cinematic experience with this MK mobile game, and a little leak may prove that right. Earlier in the week, Mortal Kombat’s early access version of the game leaked and was quickly taken down.

Being the internet, gamers were able to capture some footage of the game, which you can check out above. Keep in mind this is spoiler territory, so if you don’t want to be spoiled don’t click on the video! For those of you who dare to keep going, you can keep going with me in this little conversation. As you can see from the Mortal Kombat: Onslaught footage above, it looks like MK 11 assets are being used.

More Mortal Kombat footage leaks

The big bad appears to be Shinnok again, as the cinematic closes with his smirking face. If we’re to follow Mortal Kombat 11’s storyline, this seems to be its own timeline, as MK 11’s ending was different. Another video of some of story was leaked, which explains some more of the story and MK lore. This video appears to be Chapter 2 of the game:

I could do so much with four hands

So far, so good, I’d say! Mobile games aren’t at the top of my list, but I’ll definitely play this one. I’m a big fan of MK lore, and this game’s focus on story is intriguing. Onslaught is still scheduled for a 2023 release date; you can sign up here for more updates on the game.
