Netflix spills a new trailer for The Cuphead Show, launching February 18

Here's a real high-class bout: the 12-episode cartoon series hits Netflix next month.

[UPDATE: We initially reported that there will be 12 episodes of this show, but there will actually be 48 episodes released in three batches.]

Fittingly for the year that marks the game’s fifth anniversary (yes, we feel old too), a new trailer for the upcoming animated Cuphead show, appropriately titled The Cuphead Show!, is now available. Not only does it give a great look into the animation and comedy styles of the show, it also drops a release date: you’ll be able to watch the first batch of episodes on Netflix starting Feb. 18, with two more batches coming later.

The new trailer gives us our first real glimpse at some of the voices for the main cast. Tru Valentino and Frank Todaro voice Cuphead and Mugman, capturing the rascally spirit of the boys from the game. The highlight for me, however, is Luke Millington-Drake as the Devil, who sounds like he’s having a ton of flamboyant fun in the role.

What we know about The Cuphead Show! so far

The Cuphead Show! is a 48-episode cartoon centered around the misadventures of Cuphead and Mugman featuring characters both old and new. The animation style mimics the Flescher-inspired art of 1930s cartoons just as the game did, though rendered digitally as opposed to scanning hand-drawn animations. The show looks like a fun watch filled to the brim with cartoon violence — and that’s about all you need.

Netflix’s official description of the show reads as such:

The Cuphead Show! is a character-driven comedy series following the unique misadventures of loveable, impulsive scamp Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman. As the two scour their surreal homeworld of the Inkwell Isles in search of fun and adventure, they always have each other’s back. Unless there’s only one cookie left, in which case it’s every cup for himself. The Cuphead Show! combines nostalgic delights, side-splitting gags, and a healthy dose of the heebie jeebies—especially when a ridiculously weird nemesis, The Devil himself, arrives on the scene to toy with our heroes.

Netflix

As for Studio MDHR, they’re hard at work on the long-anticipated Delicious Last Course DLC campaign. Cuphead owners can dive into this delectable dish of pain when it arrives this June.

Daniel Hein is either A) a lifelong video game fanatic, writer, and storyteller just sharing his thoughts on things, or B) some kind of werewolf creature. We're not quite sure which yet. He also makes mediocre video game retrospectives (and other content!) on YouTube where you can watch him babble on for hours about nothing.
