New Mega Drive game, ‘Xeno Crisis,’ heads to Kickstarter
It seems like we can’t go a couple weeks without a new Genesis/Mega Drive title being announced or making its way to Kickstarter these days. While it’s certainly awesome that this is a reality, I sometimes find it hard to get really excited for them like I did a few years ago.
But every so often a game comes along that really looks amazing, and I’m happy to report that Xeno Crisis could be the next big Genesis/Mega Drive game.
Developed by Bitmap Bureau, Xeno Crisis is a top-down, arcade-style shooter that’s heavily inspired by classics like Smash TV and Zombies Ate My Neighbors. What will set the game apart from those that came before it are new features like procedural map generation and gameplay randomization.
They’re aiming for an October 2018 release, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Mega Drive’s launch in Japan, in both physical and digital formats. Bitmap Bureau is looking to raise $28,000 to help fund the rest of the game’s development.
