Sony continues to move towards reworking their PlayStation Plus model. Not all of it went over well with users, particularly with the required time-limited game trials. Regardless, Sony plans to roll out the new model relatively soon, and with it, they released a guide to help people understand their plan moving forward.
New PlayStation Plus model guide
As they’ve expanded on the new model quite a bit, Sony offers a guide to help players understand what the upcoming changes are. Sony included a handy chart to differentiate between the different plans offered in the new PlayStation Plus. The new services offered includes Essential, Extra, and Premium.

- United States: $14.99 monthly / $39.99 quarterly / $99.99 yearly
- Europe: €13.99 monthly / €39.99 quarterly / €99.99 yearly
- United Kingdom :£10.99 monthly / £31.99 quarterly / £83.99 yearly
- Japan: ¥1,300 monthly / ¥3,600 quarterly / ¥8,600 yearly
- United States: $17.99 monthly / $49.99 quarterly / $119.99 yearly

Current PlayStation Plus members get to enjoy the same benefits they already have and will be automatically transferred to the PlayStation Plus Essential plan. PlayStation Now members will transition to PlayStation Plus Premium. At launch, the price will not increase for those members. However, PlayStation Now officially becomes unavailable with the new model coming in.
As before, the game rotation plans to stay on a monthly refresh. Additionally, for those with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, how many games come into the new rotation varies each month.
When does the new model roll out?
The new PlayStation Plus model launches today across Asia, excluding Japan. Japan waits until June 2, 2022. For North and South America, Sony targets June 13, 2022 as their release date. For Australia, New Zealand and Europe, they planned the release for June 23, 2022.
Essential and Extra will all be available globally. Deluxe and Premium are excluded to markets with cloud streaming, so be sure to check out the full guide to make sure your country is included if interested in those services. Overall, the month of June can expect to see the new PlayStation Plus models making headway.
