Steamforged Games will produce their third Resident Evil board game in cooperation with Capcom.
The Kickstarter campaign for Resident Evil: The Board Game begins October 26. Over the course of the 16-day campaign, choices made by backers will determine which members of the STARS team survive. These results will also directly impact the amount of unlocked accessories and expansions. In a way, this turns the Kickstarter campaign into its own survival horror game.
We’re going to have a continuing narrative going throughout the entire thing. Expect lots and lots of meaningful backer decisions to work out where we go, and what we unlock, and how we explore and discover stuff.

Resident Evil: The Board Game takes direct inspiration from the original video game’s 2002 remake. Like the video game, players take on the role of STARS members in the Spencer Mansion. The board game also places a major focus on exploration. To maintain the integrity of Resident Evil’s horror roots, players must open various doors and draw exploration cards. The cards also help randomize the events to keep players guessing what lurks around the corner.
In addition, players will rescue other STARS members. Unlike the video game, these characters perform a variety of tasks after being saved. They have their own missions where they scavenge for supplies and attempt to find alternative escape routes.
About Steamforged Games
Steamforged Games has a long working history with Capcom. In the past, they made four other board games licensed by Capcom. These titles include two other Resident Evil games, a Devil May Cry game and a Monster Hunter: World game. The partnership with Capcom can largely be traced back to Steamforged Games’ co-founder Mat Hart. Because of Hart’s veteran status in the video game industry, his connections largely contribute to his company’s success.
