New SEGA Genesis game Demons of Asteborg’s box art was revealed
You may not know it, but the SEGA Genesis is still alive and well in 2021. We have reported on countless stories regarding new Genesis games, and many look impressive. Back in 2019, a new Mega Drive/Genesis game titled Demons of Asteborg launched on Kickstarter. Thanks to 663 devoted backers, game dev Neofid Studios raised €44,835 to help bring this project to life.
The classic platformer is described to have elements of Ghouls’n Ghosts, Castlevania, Mickey Mania, Space Harrier and Panzer Dragoon. That’s a pretty great lineup of games to live up to! Demons of Asteborg’s progress is steadily chugging along, with their latest update claiming a Q1 2021 release window.
Earlier this month, the Twitter account of Demons of Asteborg revealed the official box art for the SEGA Genesis game, which you can check out below. The art was drawn by Luis Martins, who works at Ubisoft as a Senior Lighting Artist. He’s worked on games like the Tomb Raider series, Deus Ex, Watch Dogs 2, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Quarantine.
Luis has also contributed numerous pieces of artwork for our very own Mega Visions Magazine! We love the Batman art, man!
As we mentioned above, Demons of Asteborg is scheduled for Q1 2021. The Genesis/Mega Drive version includes:
- OST digital download
- Access to the backers channel on Discord
- SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis boxed set
- Demons Of Asteborg stickers
This version will run you 69,00€. You can pre-order it here.
If you’re not feeling particularly nostalgic for SEGA’s glorious console, the game also comes out for other platforms. A digital version of Demons of Asteborg also comes out for Steam and Nintendo Switch.
