Nintendo 3DS production was sadly discontinued back in 2020. All hardware production came to a halt, including games and the console itself. Despite its discontinuation, the 3DS remained as a fan favorite thanks to all the great memories it gave us. However, it appears there have been some Nintendo 3DS reprints in Europe as of late. Maybe the 3DS isn’t as dead as we thought?
Nintendo 3DS reprints
Twitter user @pikuri noted multiple hard-to-find 3DS games supposedly received reprints over the past year in Europe. Their eagle eye noted the European exclusive 3DS case retired in favor of thinner ones to match the Japanese titles.
Many popular 3DS games have become difficult to purchase without forking over hundreds of dollars for the game. While I’m a happy owner of my own copy of Fire Emblem Awakening, not everyone is so lucky. However, @pikuri notes you can tell some games are post-2021 stock thanks to the regulatory info on the back.
Games that appear to have been restocked include:
- Dragon Quest VII
- Dragon Quest VIII
- Fire Emblem Awakening
- Bravely Default
- Majora’s Mask 3D
- Devil Survivor 2
- Stella Glow
- Kirby: Planet Robobot
@pikuri also added a potential Luigi’s Mansion remake, though they’re not positive it is, as it could be old, unsold stock. For the rest of the games though, the regulatory info on the back says enough about it being a reprint.
But this is probably the end
This, however, is likely the last of the Nintendo 3DS reprints. Video game boutique and repair shop Videogamesnewyork added they have their own restocks, but this will likely be the last of Nintendo’s production. Even so, they seek to keep the 3DS name alive as long as they can.
With some of the Nintendo 3DS reprints coming to light, now may be a good time to buy the games you were missing. Fill out that collection with a hopefully cheaper copy of Bravely Default while you can!
