Oddworld: Soulstorm is heading to Nintendo Switch

The 2021 game heads to the Switch courtesy of Microids, who also have a number of physical editions on offer.

Time to gear up and save your fellow Mudokons once again. Oddworld: Soulstorm, the latest in the cinematic platforming series, is coming to Nintendo Switch. Dubbed the Oddtimized Edition, it brings the odd (heh) and grimy adventure onto the Nintendo console.

The game’s developer Oddworld Inhabitants is teaming up with Microids for the Switch release. In addition to a digital version, Microids also announced a number of physical editions as well with an assortment of goodies. No release date has been announced for any of these versions yet, however.

See a trailer for the release below, courtesy of Microids on YouTube, which details all the physical editions as well.

Oddworld: Soulstorm on Switch: everything we know

Oddworld: Soulstorm launched last year for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows. It received mixed to good reviews and, in this humble writer’s eyes, fell short on gameplay yet was still engrossing thanks to its worldbuilding and tone. Nonetheless, it later received an enhanced edition for those consoles in addition to the Xbox One and Series X/S. This Nintendo Switch port is based on this enhanced edition, likely optimized even further to run smoothly on the console.

Exclusive pre-order bonuses for Oddworld: Soulstorm on the Switch includes a digital release of the game’s soundtrack and a 50-page digital artbook. The Limited Oddition contains the following physical items:

  • Oddworld: Soulstorm’s standard edition for Nintendo Switch
  • A collectible metal case with 24 cartridge slots
  • Three art prints

The Collector’s Oddition comes with the following items in addition to those:

  • A Unique Collector’s Box
  • An exclusive 9-inch (22 cm) silver figurine of Abe, Mudokon hero
  • A premium 160-page artbook by Pix’n Love Publishing
  • An exclusive Mining Company keychain
  • Ancient Mudokon Tribal stickers
  • Abe’s hand tattoo
