SEGA Nerds

Our one year back …

Today represents a remarkable day in SEGA Nerds’ history as it marks our first year back. We took a couple years off, but I think it’s fair to say we’re better than ever with a talented staff and dedicated following that makes all our hard work well worth it.

From the day we first came back, I’ve wanted to build a site that’s fun to read and visit. I stress to each of our team members that I want working on SEGA Nerds to be fun and not feel like a job. I believe that when you write a feature or review for SEGA Nerds, you should write it like you’re talking to one of your friends. I think this approach has helped give our content a unique style and personality that you won’t find elsewhere.

Moreover, we don’t have any silly desires to be “the best” SEGA fan site on the Internet. We’ll leave those hilarious aspirations for others as our desires are more focused on building the SEGA community as a whole.

There are so many talented people in our community, and we want to help them spread awareness about their content. We’ve done this through social media, the SEGA Nerdcast and posts on our site and will continue to in every avenue we have available. We believe a strong, tight-knit SEGA community with a sense of purpose can achieve some truly great things, and we want to be right there helping it succeed.

Lee’s and James’ retrospective series have become a favorite for many SEGA Nerds readers.

As I said in the beginning, we have an incredibly talented team, and I’d like to take some time to thank each one of them individually:

Graham has been here with me since day one, and I couldn’t imagine a SEGA Nerds without him. He truly is one of my best friends, and I love all his work, even if I have to yell at him from time to time.

Perhaps no one on the site puts in as much time and work as The Magnificent Kopke. Since the day he joined the team, he’s made an immediate impact and is as devoted to the site as I have ever been. His amazing graphic design skills has made the site look just as excellent as our quality content.

Andrew is the kind of guy who can do it all, whether it’s great video reviews, news stories, written reviews or even amazing documentaries. We’re incredibly lucky to have him on the team, and I’m always amazed at his level of insight and articulation he brings on the SEGA Nerdcast.

Lee is like the little brother I always wish I had. He’s fun, easy going but also writes the BEST retrospectives you’ll find anywhere. His contributions elevate the quality of SEGA Nerds’ content to a level you don’t find anywhere else.

Steven’s rants on the Nerdcast have become something of legend, but when he isn’t spitting hatred over Sonic Team’s latest game, he provides some very solid video reviews and other content to the site. Plus, you won’t find a more devoted fan of Jurassic Park anywhere.

James is another amazing writer and one of the only staff members, aside from Graham, to still be working on SEGA Nerds from long ago. I’m expecting some great features from James in the coming months that I think you’ll all enjoy quite a bit.

Bilal is the newest member to the SEGA Nerds team. He brings a vast knowledge of all things Dreamcast to the team and has already made quite a mark with his great “Know Your SEGA History” series.

We have some big plans ahead of us, and we know the next year will be even better than our last. We promise to stay focused on creating top-notch content and building the SEGA community in every way we can.
