The Persona series officially passes 15 million units sold
Well, I bet critics never saw this coming! (I’m sorry that joke will never get old). According to sales numbers after the last fiscal year, the Persona series has officially crossed over 15 million units sold! What timing for the series 25th anniversary!
According to the investors’ report from SEGA Sammy, the series sold two million copies last year. This would put the series officially over the 15 million sales mark. And Persona Central has even pointed out it could be more sales than we thought, as the same report said it could have even been 3 million when all the numbers come in. Either way, the big point to take away from the financial numbers is that Persona’s popularity is growing by the day.
The series exploded in popularity in the last 5-7 years thanks to first the massive success of Persona 5 back in 2017. The game is considered one of the best RPGs on the PlayStation 4 by the gaming community. Riding strong word of mouth, the game helped peak interest in the series overall. SEGA and Atlus capitalized on this by re-releasing Persona 4 Golden on PC to powerful sales numbers in 2020. ATLUS has teased that seven Persona projects are in the works for the 25th anniversary. Don’t be surprised if we start finding out what they are very soon.
