Phantasy Star Online 2 looks Steam-bound
Oracle is about to get Steam-y.
While Xbox One has been promoted most heavily as the lead platform for a western release, it’s perhaps not a big secret that SEGA has had designs on bringing Phantasy Star Online 2 to Windows 10 PCs as well. Heck, it says so right on the official website.
However, in recent years, the state of PC gaming has changed, and with new players in the field such as the Epic Games Store, “Windows 10” can nevertheless be quite vague. Fortunately, with the Xbox One closed beta only mere days away and the option to pre-load the game available to those who applied with the Xbox Insider Hub app, we now have an idea of where PC players can expect to find their path to adventure when it arrives “soon.”
wwm0nkey on Resetera found an online manual on the official website which gives instructions on how to launch the PC version. There, it gave instructions not only for Windows 10 itself, but for Steam as well.
Since the post went live this morning, however, it appears that the official page which revealed this information has been taken offline. Fortunately, a savvy screencapper managed to save an image of the document, which you can find for yourself right here.
Ultimately, this comes as little surprise, as SEGA has worked with Steam to publish a number of titles for PC over the years, so this seems par for the course. On the other hand, who ever expected them to pick Xbox One exclusively as the launch platform in the west to begin with?
