Legend of Mana is a title that is quite near and dear to my heart. I first played it on original PlayStation, remembering how enamored I was with the music and the beautifully illustrated world. Now, myself and a whole new generation of fans can experience this underrated Mana game on modern consoles.
This week, Square Enix unleashed a press release with some cool new information. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch version are officially open. This remaster features lovingly redrawn backgrounds, enhanced UI, and updated graphics. It feels like your walking through a painting!
For the uninitiated, this particular game in the series treats you, the hero, as a vagabond exploring the world of Mana. The world was torn apart, and it’s up to you to put the pieces back together. Each new world has its own, distinct set of characters and stories. Two particular story arcs will definitely tug at your heartstrings:
In The Escad Story Arc, players will follow four childhood friends – Escad, Daena, Matilda and Irwin – through the span of their friendships and encounter their conflicting motives in the wake of the Faerie Wars that took place over a decade prior. Additionally, players will join Larc, dragoon of Drakonis in The Dragon Killer Arc as he embarks on a mission to slay the Dragons of Knowledge as well as challenging another dragon, named Sierra.

Legend of Mana also includes a surprisingly deep weapon forgery and pet monster system. Did I mention you can create magical golems?
You can get Legend of Mana for $29.99 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC on June 24. Pre-order here. We’ll be doing a review of this underrated gem too, so stay tuned right here on Mega Visions.
