Pre-orders open for Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Collector Edition Figure
Six inches of Sonic style and speed.
2021 marks the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and in addition to their other offerings, they’ve got something special in store: the Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Collector Edition action figure!
This six-inch representation of Sonic in his “Classic” form features nine points of articulation (neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and it looks like maybe the ankles, unless the interchangeable hands count as wrist joints), six interchangeable hands (including two open, two closed, one pointing, and one holding a ring), three interchangeable nose/mouth plates (frown, smirk, and grin), three interchangeable sets of eyes (wide open, half-shut, and that weird idea of “closed” where lid features are drawn on the whites {which is apparently on-model, like it or not}), and a “premium finish and feel.” It also has something of a Sonic Mania motif going on, with the box opening to reveal art from the game and a lenticular display base featuring the Studiopolis Zone from the game.
The figure is due to be available sometime this month, and the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price at places like Entertainment Earth is $49.99, though The Toyark notes that some places — like Big Bad Toy Store — have it for less ($41.99, in this case).
