Reach the top of the ladder in new AEW: Fight Forever gameplay
Join Evil Uno and YouTuber newLEGACYinc as they try the ladder matches in AEW: Fight Forever
Yesterday, newLEGACYinc shared some new gameplay from AEW: Fight Forever that shows off ladder matches.
In the video, AEW wrestler Evil Uno joins the YouTuber to show off the gameplay. The two proceed to play a ladder match, where newLEGACYinc plays as Paul Wight and Uno chooses John Silver. You can also watch the action for yourself below!
As the two play, they figure out the controls in real time. During ladder matches, you need to grab the ladder from under the ring. However, you can also pull other strange weapons out as well, ranging from a paddle to a tire.
Another interesting mechanic we see is how when you climb the ladder, you actually have to press the climb button for each step. This provides a change of pace from other wrestling games, where you only need to hit the climb button once to automatically climb to the top. However, duking it out with you opponent is pretty similar to other wrestling games, where a few solid strikes will launch you opponent down to the mat.
You can also perform diving moves off the ladder, as well as knock the ladder over. In addition, you can use ladders to strike your opponents. Reaching for the poker chip requires you to mash the prompted button until the prompt changes to a new button. After four rounds of button-mashing, you’ll pull the chip down.
As in previous gameplay showcases for AEW: Fight Forever, gameplay is fast-paced and arcade-like. However, some movements appear very clunky and stiff, and the fading texture of weapons appears more than dated. Regardless, the quick action makes the new gameplay look fresh and exciting, like that of the old wrestling games on the Nintendo 64.
AEW: Fight Forever powerslams into your home on June 29
On May 22, 2023, All Elite Wrestling revealed its debut game AEW: Fight Forever will hit the mat on June 29.
After years of anticipation and uncertainty, the team behind the game now feel confident for it to hit the shelves. In the new trailer, AEW EVP and former World Champion Kenny Omega discusses how developer Yuke’s is finally ready to release the game. You can watch the official announcement below.
The trailer also shows off additional gameplay featuring Omega as he takes on the likes of Jon Moxley, “Hangman” Adam Page and Adam Cole. The footage also highlights the title’s arcade alternative approach to WWE’s simulation style gameplay. With over-the-top character models and animations, AEW: Fight Forever looks to take wrestling games to their arcade-style roots.
We wanted to develop an arcade experience that was fun, easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master.
