Resident Evil a no-show at Nintendo Direct, reason unknown says insider

Here’s the long and short of insider information: You never know when it might be dust in the wind. Unfortunately, Resident Evil fans saw our flesh tearing hopes dashed this week at Nintendo Direct. Weapon-toting zombie killers, we will have to wait a bit longer to hear anything about a new Resident Evil game.

There were rumors and speculations prior to Nintendo Direct that we would have an announcement about a new Resident Evil game. Some of this came from insiders, including Samus Hunter. So, it’s understandable why anticipations were high.

Just a reminder: there was no confirmation from Nintendo or Capcom themselves. And we all know mum’s the word when it comes to advanced leaks if a show is just around the corner. However, it does appear that Capcom might have pulled a switcher-roo. Instead of Resident Evil, Capcom graced their fans with a teaser for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Expansion. The new expansion will release on Switch and PC, to the shock of many fans. This will be the first time Monster Hunter Rise will be available on PC.

It is unclear whether this change was last minute, or even on the docket to begin with. It is also possible that the announcement was delayed, as Samus Hunter theorized, due to the ongoing pandemic.

There has been talk of a late 2021 announcement for something in the Resident Evil franchise apart from the DLC for Resident Evil: Village. Of course, the rumors of Jill Valentine and Rebecca Chambers in Revelation 3 or Resident Evil 9 still abound. As of yet, we have nothing more to go on, so it might just be fevered dreams. We shall have to see.

Were you shocked by Capcom’s lack of RE news? Spill your guts below!
