It’s still wild to see that Return To Monkey Island is coming down the pipeline this year. It’s even more nuts to see Ron Gilbert returning to helm the franchise he started over 30 years ago. But we’re only a couple of months away now from the series’s return. And it looks like Gilbert is excited for fans to see it!
Over on Twitter, Gilbert posted a new gameplay video showing off an exchange between Guybrush Threepwood and Judge Plank. The footage shows how Return To Monkey Island will aim to have the calling cards of the original games while pushing forward with new graphical technology. You can watch the clip below.
Now, this looks like the Monkey Island fans know and love! The dialogue has that signature wit that people love about old Lucasfilm Games. Plus, the new art direction feels like a natural evolution for the series for the modern day. I’m honestly curious how snow got on the island. Is that weird? But I digress. It’s only a few more months till players find out! So let’s not be dumb and bully Gilbert again.
