Rumor: A ‘humor-based’ Quantic Dream game is in the works
The latest rumors suggests that the game is based on the 2013 Dark Sorcerer PS4 tech demo.
If the word on the grapevine is solid, Quantic Dream has a “humor-based” game in the works. The rumor comes from insider AccountNGT, who unveiled details about the game and its development status. Supposedly, this is a AAA project set in a medieval world that focuses on comedy.
This is the second Quantic Dream title we know is under development, with the other being the recently-revealed Star Wars: Eclipse. AccountNGT published screenshots of this game before its officially announcement, giving some credence to this latest rumor.
AccountNGT says that the game is related to The Dark Sorcerer, a PlayStation 4 tech demo unveiled at E3 2013. It features both a dark fantasy setting and a comedic edge, but Quantic Dream hasn’t officially announced a follow-up yet. See that tech demo below, courtesy of PlayStation on YouTube:
What we know about this potential Quantic Dream game
If AccountNGT is to be believed, Quantic Dream’s core team in Paris is working on this title with a multi-platform release (including PC) in mind. Supposedly, the game is more advanced than Star Wars: Eclipse and features a non-linear story written by Quantic Dream founder David Cage.
However, AccountNGT also mentioned that Quantic Dream is having trouble hiring employees for positions related to the game. Considering the allegations of toxic working conditions and sexual harassment facing Quantic Dream, that’s not exactly a shock.
Quantic Dream revealed its upcoming game Star Wars: Eclipse at the Game Awards 2021. The trailer for that looks absolutely incredible, but due to those previously-mentioned allegations, Quantic Dream’s attachment understandably displeased many. Considering its rumored hiring issues, the status of this second project — if it even exists — could fluctuate wildly in the next few years.
