SEGA has announced Puyo Puyo Chronicle to commemorate the series 25th anniversary

It’s hard to believe, but the Puyo Puyo series has been giving us blissful puzzle joy for 25 years. In the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, SEGA announced that they’ll be releasing a new RPG based on the Puyo Puyo series titled Puyo Puyo Chronicle.

The main protagonist is Arle, who gets sucked into an alternate dimension, where you and your partner Carbuncle have to find a way back to the real world. In Puyo Puyo Chronicle, you’ll be able to create teams of three characters to defeat your foes. The RPG will feature classic gameplay that is similar to Puyo Puyo Fever and Puyo Puyo Tsu.

Puyo Puyo Chronicle is scheduled to be released in Japan on December 8th for the Nintendo 3Ds .
