Marketing is changing every day. What was a strategy in the digital space two years ago can be overshadowed now by something completely new. This is especially true in the gaming industry. We have seen the rise of streamers used to market games. Now you can have streamers not even be real people! VTubers can now be an animated avatar on screen so the streamer can keep their anonymity. It’s a wild concept, and it seems like SEGA caught on by making Tails one.
You read that right; SEGA has announced TailsTube! The new series will have Tails as a VTuber going over history, characters, and other fun information about the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise. Tails’ voice actress, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, has been confirmed to be voicing the character for the series. I would not expect to see any info on Sonic Frontiers, but you never know! Could Tails being a VTuber actually work?
This could turn into something interesting for SEGA if Colleen is game. How fun would it be to have Tails announce upcoming Sonic news in updates? Or, even better, be in character and play upcoming titles like Sonic Frontiers! It could be a crazy concept; Then again, crazier things take off on Twitch, so why not!
