SEGA is sharing new Sonic 30th anniversary news this Thursday
Hold on to your butts, SEGA/Sonic fans. Hopefully we can stop speculation and finally get some answers this week. For the past couple of months, were were piecing together bits of information and rumors about the blue brand’s next Sonic game. This past week, a French retailer accidentally published a listing for a Sonic Collection. Prior to that, rumors swirled of a Sonic Colors remaster.
So far, one of our SEGA rumors came true. They officially announced Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown heading to PS4 next week. Now, Sonic the Hedgehog is getting his own chance at the limelight. This morning, Sonic’s official Twitter sent out this announcement:
According to the tweet, SEGA will officially reveal some of their upcoming projects, partnerships, and events for Sonic’s 30th anniversary. Now, projects could mean anything. We reported on a Sonic encyclopedia set for a fall release this past week. However, it’s very likely a game announcement is part of their extravaganza. With supposed leaks and rumors reaching a boiling point, they would want to get ahead of the curve and announce it themselves.
In our latest podcast, we discussed dormant SEGA IPs we’d love to see come back. So far, Virtua Fighter is making a comeback and Sonic is as popular as ever.
