SEGA reports strong game sales forecast despite overall profit loss
When it comes to SEGA and their games division, their numbers reflect a familiar pattern. Throughout the Covid pandemic, video games have been solace for many people looking for something to pass the time.
According to SEGA’s latest fiscal report, the blue brand saw an increase in sales of PC and console games. Their games delivered $974.6 million in profit, versus $858.5 from the previous year. These sales were largely due to the strong performances from Football Manager 2021, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster.
They’re forecasting a very strong future in game sales, touting full-year net sales of $1.3 billion and operating income of $347.4 million by March 31st, 2021.
Overall numbers have not been great; SEGA announced consolidated net sales falling 25.2 percent year-on-year to $1.9 billion. Profits dropped to $59 million from $217.9 million over that same period.
Overall a mixed bag when it comes to their sales report; Arcades and pachinko slots have undoubtedly taken a hit because of the pandemic, so it’s only natural their sales would fall in that division. Those video game sales definitely show where their bread is buttered.
Keep releasing great games!
