SEGA returns to profit in the latest financial earnings report

In the latest financial earnings report, SEGA reports that they have returned to profit, although not in the most ideal way possible. SEGA earned a profit of  ¥3.7 billion thanks to the result of various cost-cutting measures and restructuring.

SEGA’s revenue from digital games was down 2%, while revenue from packaged games was down by 11%. Unit sales of SEGA’s packaged games was down by 25%, selling only 9.22 million units this year. Last year, SEGA was able to sell 12.28 million units, with Football Manager 2016 being the main focus.

SEGA is looking to strengthen their game sales in the near future with upcoming titles like Persona 5, Yakuza 6, Total War: Warhammer, and Football Manager 2017. Hopefully the release of bigger software will show better results for the blue brand in the upcoming year.
