SEGA Saturn and PlayStation 1 watches coming out in February

From Takara Tomy Arts.

In February, SEGA Saturn and PlayStation 1 watches by Takara Tomy Arts will be available at local Gashapon machines.

Being one of the most famous console wars ever, it’s a surprise to see these iconic systems miniaturized for daily wear. To sweeten the deal, this series of watches pays homage to the two versions of both the PlayStation 1 (PS and PSOne) and SEGA Saturn (Model 1 and 2).

Popping open the disk hatch also reveals classic video game discs. The games are Everybody’s GolfArc the LadVirtua Fighter 2, and Sakura Wars 2. Each watch fashions a matching strap with their respective PlayStation 1 or SEGA Saturn logos.

Niceee, so where can I get a watch?

Unfortunately, these watches aren’t something you fish out of Amazon. Based in Japan, Gachapon toys are usually within vending machine-dispensed capsules, which are extremely popular in Japan. With ¥400 ($3.50), you can win one of the versions for your wrist. Or maybe have it as a collectible for your gaming shelf.

Announcement

If the location of getting the watches is a bummer, remember that some vocal shouts here and there on social media could turn attention onto the West. However, it might be a hard push given the small scope of the project.
