Many still remember SEGA’s last foray into digital gambling with its release of SEGA Casino on the Nintendo DS about 10 years ago.
The game featured your standard Roulette, Craps and Baccarat, but also included six unlockable games. It had a fun local, co-op feature where you could play wirelessly against three other people in Texas Hold ’em, Black Jack and 7 Card Poker. There was also a Casino Challenge mode where you started with only $1,000 and had to turn it into millions of dollars.
Obviously, video games have come a long way since then, but did you know SEGA had ties to casino games long before SEGA Casino?
In 1993, SEGA opened the SEGA Dome in the Oriental City Shopping Centre the UK. SEGA rebranded many of its arcades to SegaWorld, but this particular arcade became the SEGA Park and Casino Colindale. Unfortunately, the casino closed its doors in June 2008 when Oriental City was shut down after a buyout and was subsequently demolished.
A few years before the SEGA Park and Casino opened its doors, SEGA released Casino Games on the SEGA Master System in 1989. This was a fairly simple, straight-up casino game that featured Poker, Black Jack, Baccarat, slot machines and a pinball table.
It might seem that SEGA’s days in the casino industry are long gone, but according to คาสิโนออนไลน์, that’s actually not the case. Not too long ago, SEGA invested $1.7 billion to build a luxury casino in South Korea that’s already broken ground and will open in 2017. This casino is expected to be a huge part of the SEGA Sammy business going forward, and if successful, we’ll most likely see more SEGA casinos popping up throughout the world.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see SEGA try its hand at the online casino industry either as that has also become a big industry for people to gamble from the comfort of their homes.
