Shin Megami Tensei V might be coming to PC according to game files
Shin Megami Tensei V is the new JRPG on the street. It has opened doors for new and old Atlus fans to enjoy the roots of the SMT franchise. However, within a week of its’ launch, a rumored PC port may be in the future – thanks to data miners.
Shin Megami Tensei V by Atlus launched last Friday for Switch users with no news whether other systems might get their hands on it. Although, it didn’t take long for data miners to rummage through the game files and discover lines of code that could imply a PC and PS4 release. At the same time, it could easily be scrap code that never got deleted on the final product.
The speculation sparked from a few lines of code mentioning “target platforms” which listed PC, PS4, and Switch. Not long after, you’ll see lines that imply PC graphical settings such as shadow and texture quality, anti-aliasing, and post-processing. SMTV also was mentioned in the GeForce Now leak earlier in the year – listing the systems revealed from the game files.
All this talk of ports isn’t just wishful thinking since SEGA was pretty clear on porting more of the Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series to PC. Both are popular series in their own right and meet certain niche qualities that keep them apart from other JRPGs. They’re sure to prosper in the PC market.
