Sonic fans are certainly not short on talent. Recently, we reported on one fan’s incredible Sonic game in Dreams. Today, we want to introduce you to Bill Thorpe. No, not the musician. This guy designs and films famous video games entirely out of cardboard.
Thorpe has created cardboard versions of Super Mario Bros., Alien, Castlevania, Doom, and more. His latest project takes on Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In the video (which you can check out above), he basically recreates the game from beginning to end, entirely out of cardboard and paper material. In the final scenes, Sonic destroys Eggman’s robot and Thorpe uses real fire to torch down the scene. Talk about going out with a bang!
Following this video, he filmed a making-of video. The clip shows every painstakingly careful process he has to go through when making these creations. According to Thorpe, the entire process took three months to complete.
The attention to detail and creativity behind these projects is quite stunning. If you enjoyed these videos, I urge you to check out his other content. If the Sonic 2 video does well, Thorpe plans on making cardboard versions of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Let’s make it happen!
Bill also has a Patreon, which helps fund his cardboard masterpieces. If you’re interested in contributing, you can do so here.
