Sonic Boom TV show premiers to strong ratings on Cartoon Network

The Sonic Boom animated TV show premiered last Saturday, and many Sonic fans were upset at the early morning time slot Cartoon Network gave the show. Well, despite its 7 a.m. EST airing, Sonic Boom performed very well in the ratings game.

According to TV by the Numbers, Sonic Boom came in first among children 9-to-14 years old and among boys 6-to-11 and 9-to-14 years old. Within its targeted demographics compared to last year, Sonic Boom, along with Pokemon the Series XY, grew delivery from 52 percent to 132 percent. Overall, Cartoon Network’s Saturday morning programming raised its viewership across all key demographics from 20 to 46 percent compared to the same time last year.

Having a strong start is important for Sonic Boom as SEGA hopes the series will take off and help spur sales for the Sonic Boom video games, which released on Nov. 11.

The next Sonic Boom episodes will air on Nov. 15 and will be titled Translate This  and Buster.
