For all you IT tech enthusiasts, the earliest Pentium 4 processors, codenamed Willamette, were clocked from 1.3 GHz to 2 GHz, and they were released on November 20, 2000, employing the Socket 423 system. The 1.6 and 1.8 GHz models came into the market in July 2001, followed by the release of 1.9 and 2.0 GHz chips by Intel. The production of the Pentium 4 chips ceased in 2008. The Core 2 Duo chips burst onto the scene in 2006, using the full second level cache of 2, 3, 4, or 6 MB available in the specific stepping of the chip.
If your hardware is 16 years old or younger, you won’t run into any glitches while playing Sonic Mania. Otherwise, it doesn’t hurt to get yourself the console version.
